Not many Americans look forward to filing taxes but this year may be different for any number of our members! Tax refunds!
I’ve been asked about our W2’s and whether they will be issued in a timely manner. According to the NFC, the W2’s are in the process of being printed and mailed. All W2’s should be out by January 31st.
Additionally, the NFC intends to have the statements electronically available on your EPP by January 25th for all but 9,000 employees (could this be all HUD employees?).
The current administration has been saying that tax refunds will be issued despite the government shutdown and it appears that a number of IRS employees will be recalled to help with tax filing season. I’d like to remind members, however, that under the Obama Administration, tax refunds were not issued during a government shutdown.
I guess we will just have to wait and see.
